Many Many moons ago (before 1994), Lady Ringaila Isch Ilglos Balos taught me how to do embroidery in the style of the Bayeux Tapestry. She taught me how to do Laid and Couched work, and Outline Stitch.

Then she promptly put me to work helping her embroider the Godelind Tapestry. This was done in perle cotton on cotton, so that it could be laundered ( Read more... )

I did this subtlety years ago for a Vulpine Reach 12th Night. Sometime between 1997 and 2000 (as that was when I lived in my first house).

For those of you new to the SCA, a subtlety is a (usually) edible creation that "looks like something. A yule log that you can eat is an example

When I lived in my first house (this was pre-2001) , I was able to do things like stinky Urine Vats to dye indigo and such.

For his particular project, was the dyer and the spinner on a big household project:

I did a LOT of dyeing of silk fabric and thread, and hand spun some of the silk embroidery thread and as well.
